The Classic Ikon 16-piece block set comes with a 3-1/2-inch parer, 6 each of 4-1/2-inch steak knife, 5-inch santoku, 5-inch serrated utility, 6-inch utility knife, 8-inch bread knife, 8-inch carver, 8-inch cooks knife, 10-inch steel, kitchen shears and a 17 slot block. Classic Ikon is culmination of all the best features of each of the Wusthof knife lines. The combined riveted handle design is combined with a contoured shape to add comfort and control. The handles are made of a durable synthetic material that is extremely comfortable to use. The Classic Ikon adds a rear bolster that acts as a counter balance when using the knife. This second bolster adds significant blade control. Classic Ikon has a unique forward bolster as well. The forward partial bolster is designed so you can sharpen the complete length of the blade. This bolster is also curved inwards to allow your fingers greater control while holding the knife by the blade. Wusthof uses a special blend of German steel through out the whole length of the knife. The ingredients of this steel are proudly etched on each blade. Wusthof not only uses the best materials to make a fine knife, but it is also crucial that each blade is precisely tempered. This tempering allows the knife to hold its edge for an extremely long time, yet still be able to be maintained in your home kitchen with out the need to be sent away for maintenance. Our unique compound angle is not seen in many knives. This angle tapers from the spine of the knife to the edge to allow for a sturdy, yet extremely sharp edge while it also tapers from the bolster to the tip to give the knife strength as well as flexibility. A work of art worthy of the Guggenheim. It cuts with little to no effort, has an ergonomic handle, perfectly balanced weight and looks amazing. Have used daily for a month now and finish is as good as ever and honing rod keeps the edge at its sharpest. My one complaint is the package was obviously opened before shipping and 2 knives, 8" carving and 5" santoku, didn't have their cardboard sheaths. Minor detail, but disappointing none the less. Definitely recommend as a lifetime purchase.

I purchased this item from another supplier at a discounted price. My factory sealed box arrived in time for Christmas. However, when it was unwraped as a "House Present", the six steak knives were missing. All of the knives were great, cut the turkey thinner than any other knife I've had including an electric knife.When I contacted Wusthof Cutlery regarding the missing items, frustration set in. Rather than shipping the missing steak knives, I was required to send back the entire set. I finally have my correct set of knives and I'm looking forward to using them with great satisfaction. Looking forward to receiving my meat fork to fill one of the empty slots.
