I purchased this cleaver to complete my set of Wusthof knives. I was impressed by how sharp this thing is. I had so much fun chopping up a frozen chicken I felt a bit like the Swedish Chef from the Muppets!

This was a gift for my son that has a professional kitchen in his house so needs, he thinks, professional cooking tools. This is an expensive toy but seems quite appropriate for a 40+ year old man and father of my grandchildren so I was happy to make him happy. The length of the blade seemed short to me but it works perfectly for chopping, even through chicken bones. I have no idea, because my son won't let me play with his toys, know how the cleaver does in chopping down trees.

I was really excited to get this because I thought it would be great for chopping up my veggies, etc. Perhaps I don't understand it's intended use, but this knife is seriously a let down. I don't chop through bone enough to make this worth it (I think that's what I read it is used for?). It is so, so dull. I even exchanged it and got the same dull knife right back. I couldn't even chop an onion or carrots with this thing. Anyway, if you want this to actually cut through anything, I wouldn't purchase it. Love Wusthof, hated this knife.
